Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hans-Ulrich Gumbrecht is one of the most influential thinkers of the of the present day. He addressed the questions about the fixation on equality at the Reichmuth & Co Lectures No. 21 at the University of Lucerne. Where does it come from and where does it lead?
Prof. Gumbrecht has addressed the question of (in)equality in numerous contributions. He is professor emeritus of comparative literature at Stanford University in California, professor of Romance literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and permanent visiting professor at the Collège de France in Paris. Gumbrecht’s most recent works are “Provinz. Of Places of Thinking and Passion” (2021), “Fragile Present: Reflections and Reactions” (2019), and “Weltgeist in Silicon Valley: Living and Thinking in Future Mode.” He has received countless awards and twelve honorary doctorates for his work.
